Thank you to our St. Mary's PTO, and our school parents, for all of the treats that were given to the teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week.  We all appreciate your kindness and generosity.

Grade 2 – Mrs. Grove

Our high school pen pals are coming to St. Mary’s tomorrow morning to meet us. We can’t wait!

If any parents have digital pictures from the 2nd grade, we’d like to put them in the yearbook. We don’t have any from First Communion! Email them to suzy.rice@mystmarys.com. Thanks!

Grade 3 – Mrs. Rector

We had a great time with our pen pals last Thursday at lunch.  It was fun to finally meet the people we have been writing to all year.  Thanks to Pat Wright and Jenny Miller for sending in delicious desserts and to Shannon Perry for helping us at the picnic.  We made small bags and notebooks to give our pen pals.  Thanks to RSVP for organizing the pen pal program this year.  It was a very worthwhile experience.

We are getting close to the end of the year, but we’re not there yet!  We still have work to do these last few weeks.  We started literature circles today.  We will finish our Social Studies book this week and will start a special unit on the United States for the last two weeks of school.  Book projects are also due by June 7.  Many have completed their second project and are working on the third.

Grade 4 – Mrs. Meyer

Students need to keep working on their book report projects.  Not many projects were turned in last week.  All projects, a total of 4 for the quarter, are due Monday, June 7.  Please do not wait until the last minute.

Students will be writing and practicing their monologue for the Famous Hoosier Wax Museum this week.   We finished our chapter on slavery and the Civil War.  The Indiana History test will be this Wednesday, May 26.

On Tuesday morning, students will get to meet their high school pen pal they have been writing to throughout the year.   Have a good week!  Happy Graduation to the 8th graders!

Grade 5 – Mrs. Baker

Thank you to everyone who made Teacher Appreciation Week so wonderful!  Everything was great!

We are working hard on our Literature Circle projects.  These projects are due June 2nd.  Students are working on these projects with their reading group.  A lot of the work will be completed here at school, but some will need to be done at home.   We have some very creative fifth graders!

We have started our space project in science.  Each student will need a regular size poster board.  Students have chosen a topic about space that interests them.  They are required to have a poster and model of their topic.  These projects are due by June 4th

Keep reading. The last day for AR projects is June 4th!  Great job to everyone who has already completed all four projects!  Wow!  Have a wonderful week!

Grade 6 – Mrs. Rice

Tonight is the Reds game.  Be sure to wear your reds t-shirt and khaki pants.  Be at school by 4:45 tonight.  The bus leaves at 5:00.

We need pictures from First Communion, golf, cross country, track, boys basketball, and anything else you would like to contribute.  Yearbook orders are being taken now.  Yearbooks will arrive at the beginning of school in August.

The 6th grade has a math test on Thursday.  The 8th grade ECA algebra test is on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Have a great Memorial Day weekend.

We have a busy week ahead.  The Red’s game is tonight.  Students must be here by 4:45.  The 8th grade graduation will be Wednesday at 7:00.

The 6th and 7th grade will be doing a vocabulary review over units 11-15 with tests on Friday.  The 7th grade is reading Anne Frank and will start waves in science.  In English we are working on a writing assignment.   The 8th grade is working on a fairy tale newspaper and a writing assignment.  They will also be working on vocabulary, but they will not have a test this week.

Please remind your student to stay focused; we still have plenty of work to do!

Have a great week!
